Plagued with despair after a nasty divorce, Elizabeth Gilbert traveled across Italy, India, and Indonesia experiencing food, prayer, and love - in that order.   In Bali she found what she was looking for.  Love.

My interior decorating client is also plagued with despair.   She is sick and tired of her home being ‘brown, brown, brown’, starting with her old brown leather sofa, chair and ottoman.

So last Friday we went on a shopping adventure! 

No, we didn’t travel across Italy, India, and Indonesia.  But we did visit quite a few furniture stores. 

• LOOK - She wants new seating for her living room to be beautiful, visually appealing, have a nice shape and pretty fabric in a color that she loves.
• FEEL - She wants her sofa and chairs to be comfortable, not so tall that her feet dangle,  but long enough to lie down on.
• FUNCTION - She wants seating that will work well with her existing furniture, is the right scale for the room, and will serve a multi-purpose role - watching television, sitting, working on a laptop, accommodating guests, having stain guard.

Does this story have a happy ending?  Did my client find a sofa she loved at the last furniture store we visited?  

Not quite.  Living room furniture is a big investment.  She is going to be patient and let love happen.  And when she finds the perfect furniture it will be worth the wait.

Just like the ending in Eat Pray Love.
